A Florida man is now facing serious charges following a tragic incident in which a teacher and an infant lost their lives due to an alleged DUI accident.
Logan Fletcher Park, 24, has been charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter after police linked him to the fatal accident that claimed the lives of 34-year-old Mitchell Patch and his one-year-old son, Everett, as reported by The Florida Times Union. You can read more about the charges here.
The tragic event occurred in May when Park allegedly hit Patch and his son with a Honda while they were crossing Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Patch, who was celebrated as the Teacher of the Year at Bayview Elementary School, and his son sadly succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that Park was transported to a hospital for treatment, where a blood alcohol test revealed a level of .107, surpassing the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida. More details on the state’s BAC laws can be found here.

First Coast News reports that Park turned himself in on Sunday, following an investigation by the sheriff’s office.
An obituary indicated that Patch graduated from Florida State College before spending 12 years as a math teacher at the school. He earned the Bayview Elementary Teacher of the Year award during the 2023/2024 school year.
Park is scheduled for a court hearing on December 3.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to assist Patch’s wife, Mary Allred, with funeral and related expenses.
