In a tragic incident in North Carolina, a man was taken into custody after he contacted 911 on Monday night, confessing to having killed his children.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported that they arrived at a residence in Zebulon, where they encountered Wellington Delano Dickens III. Dickens informed the authorities that while his 3-year-old son was still alive inside the house, his three biological children, aged 6, 9, and 10, along with his 18-year-old stepson, were deceased and placed in the trunk of a car in the garage.

Upon investigation, deputies discovered what appeared to be the remains of several individuals in the car trunk. It was noted that these remains had been there for an extended period.

The remains have been transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification, and Dickens, aged 38, has been charged with one count of murder.

Authorities anticipate additional charges once the identities of the remains are confirmed.

Dickens is being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
