Amanda McClure, 48, was taken into custody on charges of assault on May 27. This followed a call to the Toledo Police Department reporting a physical confrontation. According to court documents from the Toledo Municipal Court reviewed by Law&Crime, McClure and another individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, were involved in the altercation.

During the incident, McClure was reportedly found clutching a lighter and had allegedly doused the other person with lighter fluid. When officers questioned her about her intentions, specifically if she aimed to harm the individual fatally, she allegedly responded with the word, “Maybe.”

The authorities have not disclosed the identity of the other individual or their relationship to McClure. However, they reported that McClure physically assaulted the person by striking them and pulling their hair. Following this, she allegedly directed lighter fluid onto the person’s face, eyes, and body.

Without identifying the other person or the connection between them and McClure, police said that McClure had hit the other person with her hands and pulled the other person’s hair. After the first part of the alleged attack, McClure then “sprayed lighter fluid into the face, eyes, and body of” the other person.

Police said McClure “had a lighter in her hands.”

The officer pointedly asked McClure “if she was trying to kill the victim,” which was followed by McClure’s noncommittal response.

McClure was charged with felonious assault and booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center, where she is being held on $100,000 bond. A judge issued a temporary no-contact order against McClure.

McClure’s next court date is scheduled for June 4.
