Aaron Carter and his brother Nick were not able to discuss their difficult relationship before Aaron passed away on Saturday, November 5.

The singer-songwriter, who passed away about a month shy of his 35th birthday, reportedly didn’t sit down with the Backstreet Boys member, 42, despite their differences according to TMZ.

They had semi-communicated in the recent past through their sister, 34-year-old Angel, and Aaron reportedly felt the pair were on good terms before he passed.

Family sources told the outlet that Angel reached out to Aaron, and told Nick that ‘she and Nick loved him and wanted him to get healthy.’

This reportedly helped Aaron feel he was being supported by his siblings.

TMZ went on to report that the more amicable communication between Aaron and his siblings contributed to this feeling, as past communication within the family was known to get intense.

Both Nick and Angel procured restraining orders against their brother back in 2019 after he made death threats against them or their families.

Nick spoke about his brother at a concert after his death, saying he loved his brother despite their difficulties.

This report came after some of Aaron’s friends admitted he ‘had an obsession’ with Nick. The Fools Gold hitmaker’s friend, Gary Madatyan, said the star kept close tabs on his sibling.

He told Page Six: ‘I wish [Nick] could have done a little more as a blood relative to Aaron. I’m not judging him. I’m not saying anything bad because I respect him. He’s a talented artist. I love him, but Aaron had an obsession with his brother.

‘Mentally ill people think differently. He was … pushing, poking to get that attention. Aaron did things he should have never done to his brother, but we’re talking about mental health. He was crying out for help.’

‘Obsession?’: This report came after some of Aaron’s friends admitted he ‘had an obsession’ with Nick. The Fools Gold hitmaker’s friend, Gary Madatyan, said the star kept close tabs on his sibling

Gary said it ‘broke his heart’ that no-one was there for Aaron and that he had tried to help his friend ‘get on the right path’ to no avail. He also claimed the star was concerned about his finances.

He added: ‘I said to him, “Look, I don’t like this. I love you so much and will do anything for you, but let me help you. This is not OK, brother. You’re not going on the right path with your life.”‘

In the wake of his death, Aaron’s representative has said he and Nick were working to iron out their differences before the tragedy.

They said: ‘He looked up to Nick in so many ways. They were trying to make everything good again.’

In 2019 Nick filed a restraining order against Aaron, alleging he threatened to kill his pregnant wife and unborn child.

‘After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today,’ Nick wrote at the time. ‘We were left with no choice, but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.’

He added that he still loved Aaron and hope he would get ‘the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else.’

Aaron responded to the restraining order at the time by tweeting: ‘So my brother just got a restraining order against me. And I was just served lol.’

‘Take care. @NickCarter we’re done for life,’ he continued. ‘I haven’t seen him in four years. And I don’t intend to… I am astounded at the accusations being made against me, and I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family.’

Nick posted several throwback photos of the two of them together after Aaron’s death was announced and wrote that his heart had been broken despite their complicated relationship, adding that his love for Aaron never faded.

Nick went on to write that he had ‘held onto hope’ that his brother would ‘someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help he so desperately needed,’ but added that while it’s ‘easy to blame someone or something for loss,’ he wrote that ‘addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.’

Aaron’s twin sister Angel Conrad also took to Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute to her brother after his death.

She said: ‘I loved you beyond measure.. You will be missed dearly. My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you and I,  and I promise to cherish them.

‘I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.’

His manager revealed the singer had been working on a new album in a bid to reconnect with his brother Nick. Two days after his death the new album, which is called Blacklisted, was released.

Carter’s manager Taylor Helgeson told TMZ the singer believed the music he was working on was some of his best yet.

The studio album was meant to be released on December 7, which would have been Carter’s 35th birthday.

The mother of his fiancée Melanie Martin is currently taking care of their son Prince, who is just 11 months old.

Police confirmed that Aaron had drowned in his bathtub over the weekend – with law enforcement sources telling TMZ  there were prescription pills and compressed air cans in his bathroom.

The L.A. County Coroner’s Office is waiting for toxicology results to come back before it reveals a cause of death.

Family sources have told TMZ they do not believe the singer’s death was intentional, adding that he and Melanie were in a good place with their relationship, that he was looking forward to Christmas with his son and had appointments booked with a family counselor and social worker.

Carter was a child star who hit it big in the early 2000s but whose adult life was scarred by drug addiction.

Aaron Carter’s second studio album, Aaron’s Party (Come And Get It), was released in 2000 and went triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

It featured the singles I Want Candy, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) and That’s How I Beat Shaq, and Carter supported the album for several concerts by the Backstreet Boys and for Britney Spears on the Oops!… I Did It Again tour.

He went on to release three more studio albums, 2001’s Oh Aaron, 2002’s Another Earthquake! and 2018’s Love.
