Abbie Chatfield’s boyfriend, Adam Hyde, has been publicly challenged by an ex-partner over a story he told about Leonardo DiCaprio allegedly making a move on her at a star-studded Los Angeles party.
The woman, who claims she lived with the 35-year-old Peking Duk musician in the United States for around five years, alleges Hyde “stole” the anecdote from her and has since been retelling it as though it were his own experience.
She has also issued a warning to Chatfield, claiming the Dancing2 hitmaker enjoys the “spectacle” that comes with dating someone as high-profile as the media personality.
Hyde, who also performs under the stage name Keli Holiday, made headlines several weeks ago after claiming DiCaprio once asked him for a cigarette before brazenly hitting on his then-girlfriend.
He shared the tale during an appearance on Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy, saying the encounter took place at NBA star Ben Simmons’ birthday party, where Drake was also among the guests.
‘This is my story. I think he’s a loser for stealing it,’ the ex, who wishes to remain anonymous, tells the Mail.

She also warned Chatfield that Hyde loves the ‘spectacle’ of having such a famous girlfriend
She went on to explain that the birthday party was a joint event hosted by the company she had just started working for.
‘It was my first week there. It was Ben Simmons’ birthday… Me and Adam, we would go to parties and we would separate,’ she explains.
‘I was there standing and I was smoking a cigarette. I remember getting tapped on the shoulder and I was scared because we weren’t allowed to smoke inside.’
She was worried she was about to get kicked out, but was surprised when she turned to see it was DiCaprio.
‘He asked me if he could have a cigarette as well. I was like, “Oh, my god, yeah, sure.” I was a little bit shell-shocked. I was like, “You enjoying yourself?”
‘He was like, “Yeah, it’s fun,” whatever. Then he puts his hood on and he goes back into the crowd. That was it.’
The ex says Hyde saw the interaction and approached her then asked what was said. She claims he assumed DiCaprio must have been hitting on her.
She also hosed down Hyde’s claim about meeting Drake at the party.

Is it ever fair to take credit for someone else’s story to boost your own image?
‘When he got together with Abbie – nothing against her, I think she’s great – but there is something about the spectacle she holds that I feel like is very appealing to Adam,’ his ex says
‘Drake came. Drake was there. But he was in the room. It was one of those things where he was just there. He [Hyde] didn’t talk to Drake at all,’ she claims.
Hyde first recalled his surreal encounter with DiCaprio while chatting with radio hosts Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little last month.
‘I remember at the party, there was this big, bald, shiny head – and it was Drake!’ he said during the interview.
‘He had his shaved head, I was like, “Oh, s***!” So, I said hi to Drake and then I got a tap on the shoulder and it was Leonardo DiCaprio and his mate asking for a smoke.’
He admitted that coming face-to-face with the Oscar winner left him stunned.
‘I was like, “Oh my God!” That’s as famous as it gets!’ he said.

Little, 41, was amused to discover that even one of Hollywood’s biggest stars occasionally needed to scrounge a cigarette.
‘I can’t believe Leo is bumming cigs,’ the comedian joked.
However, Hyde soon realised the request may have been less about smoking and more about the woman accompanying him.
‘I was like, “What’s going on with that?” But then I realised he was hitting on my girlfriend at the time,’ he said. ‘That was his move.’
Hyde did not name the ex or reveal when the star-studded party took place.
But his former partner now tells us: ‘I lived the life in LA and a lot of times it was Adam tagging along with my cool s***, not the other way around.
‘Adam is a classic exaggerator. Adam likes to be the main person in the story, even if it’s not his story. He loves to be the centre of attention.
‘When he got together with Abbie – nothing against her, I think she’s great – but there is something about the spectacle she holds that I feel like is very appealing to Adam.’
She believes Hyde ‘secretly loves’ the controversy and media attention he gets from being with someone as famous and divisive as Chatfield.
‘He’s secretly loving it and being able to speak about things like this,’ she says.
‘I would just say, keep your own personality, girl. You’re way cooler than him,’ says the ex
‘I think internally he hates it [the controversy]… but I do feel like it’s an addicting thing when you’re getting attention… I think it’s a dopamine hit.
‘He loves the performance of it… I will never be able to love him enough the way that a crowd makes him feel, or the way an article written about him makes him feel. I could never love him that much.
‘I think him and Abbie are perfect together. That’s no shade. I genuinely think they are perfect for each other. I think it’s a great relationship.’
However, despite thinking that Chatfield, 31, and Hyde are a perfect match, the ex warned that every relationship has its downsides.
‘I don’t know what her personality is like. Maybe they have the exact same personality… When I met Adam, I had this spark about me. I had this shine,’ she says.
‘And I just made myself smaller… I shrunk myself down to be with him. I really had to work years trying to find my light again.’
‘[Abbie] seems like a confident, strong woman. I don’t think she has any issues [with that]. But I do feel like, look after yourself.
‘Don’t make things work just because you want to make it work. Adam has a great personality. I do have to say that. Everybody loves him.
‘There is something about him that is magnetic. I do have to give him that. You do feel like you need to fit into that. And he makes you feel that way, too.
‘I would just say, keep your own personality, girl. You’re way cooler than him. This is what he does… He wants to be a cool girl.’
Adam rose to fame as one half of electronic music duo Peking Duk alongside Reuben Styles.
He later launched his solo alter ego Keli Holiday in 2021 as an outlet for more personal music exploring romance and heartbreak.
He and Chatfield went public with their romance in 2024.
