Ademola Adeleke, the current governor of Osun State, has successfully clinched another term in office, triumphing over 14 competitors in the recent gubernatorial election.
Representing the Accord Party, Adeleke was officially named the winner by Joshua Ogunwole, the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), early Sunday morning at the commission’s main office in Osogbo, the bustling capital of the state.
According to INEC’s finalized vote count, Adeleke garnered a commanding 511,067 votes, edging out his nearest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who amassed 444,815 votes in a tightly contested race.
The electoral triumph for Adeleke was comprehensive, as he won in 19 out of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji managed to claim victory in 11 areas, highlighting the competitive nature of the election.
The complete results released by INEC also detailed the performance metrics of each political party involved in the election, offering a clear snapshot of the democratic process in action.

A total of 1,010,604 voters were accredited for the election, while 1,005,800 votes were cast. Of the votes cast, 985,079 were declared valid, while 20,721 were rejected.
The result means Adeleke will continue as governor of Osun State after securing another term in office.
His victory came after a competitive contest involving 15 candidates, with the incumbent ultimately securing the highest number of votes across the state.
