The popular reality show The Apprentice might make a comeback to television, with Donald Trump Jr. possibly taking on the role of host.
Reports from The Wall Street Journal on April 29 indicate that Amazon, which now owns MGM Television, the company behind The Apprentice, is considering bringing the iconic NBC series back on its Prime Video streaming service.
The article suggests that Donald Trump Jr., son of the original host, President Donald Trump, is a potential contender for the hosting gig. However, it is emphasized that the project is still in its nascent stage, and there have been no formal discussions with the Trump family yet.
An Amazon representative shared with the Wall Street Journal that while the company has had initial conversations about the future of The Apprentice, there is no active development underway, nor has a host been confirmed.
Donald Jr.’s father, Donald, 79, hosted 14 seasons of the hit show from 2004 to 2015 before entering politics. Arnold Schwarzenegger hosted a single season of the show in 2017.
Donald Jr., meanwhile, has history with the franchise, too, as he and sister Ivanka Trump served as advisors to their father across multiple seasons.
Donald Jr., 48, announced his engagement to socialite and model Bettina Anderson in December 2025 at a holiday party hosted at the White House and attended by his father.
The businessman thanked Bettina “for that one word — yes,” as they addressed the audience gathered at the event. “She said ‘yes,’ so that’s a big win for the end of the year.”
“It’s really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life, and I get to marry the love of my life. I feel just like the luckiest girl in the world,” Bettina told partygoers.
The Trump Organization executive vice president was first linked to Bettina, the daughter of philanthropist Harry Loy Anderson Jr. and Inger Anderson, in December 2024. They made their first public appearance together in February 2025 at a pre-Super Bowl party in New Orleans.
Donald Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump, 48, with whom he shares five children: daughters Kai, 18, and Chloe, 11, and sons Donald III, 17, Tristan, 14, and Spencer, 13. He and Vanessa divorced in 2018 and Vanessa is currently dating golf icon Tiger Woods, who is a friend of the president.
Following his split from Vanessa, Donald Jr. dated former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle from 2018 to 2024. They got engaged in 2020, but separated four years later.
“I’m happy for Don,” Kimberly, 57, said of her ex’s engagement in a statement to The New York Times in January. “I wish him, of course, all the best.”
