Devil Fruits are the bread and butter One Piece’s power-scaling. The protagonist and three other members of his crew possess powerful Devil Fruits, with Luffy’s being one of the most essential Devil Fruits ever. But despite the power of the Devil Fruits, not every intense fighter or crewmate of the Straw Hats wields one.

Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Franky, and Jinbe all lack a Devil Fruit and instead make use of their natural powers, genius minds, or enhanced bodies to combat the New World and the foes of the Straw Hats. Devil Fruits aren’t entirely necessary, but One Piece fans have wondered if the Straw Hats did become Devil Fruit users, which Devil Fruit would fit them best. In Chapter 993’s SBS, a One Piece fan asked Oda this question, and luckily for fans, he answered.

Roronoa Zoro’s Sword Would Wield Kaido’s Powerful Mythical Zoan

According to Oda, Roronoa Zoro would wield the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon. As showcased by Kaido, this Devil Fruit lets the user transform into a hybrid and complete Azure Dragon at will. It belongs to the strongest class of One Piece Devil Fruits, the Mythical Zoan. Kaidou and Momonosuke are the only users of this powerful Devil Fruit. However, Oda says that he’d want Zoro to have used it as well; however, rather than Zoro consuming the Devil Fruit, Oda would like to see Zoro’s sword use the Fruit.

If one of Zoro’s swords could breathe fire, control the weather, and bear the head of a mighty dragon. His strength and badassery would increase tenfold, not to mention this would make him one of the most unique swordsmen out there and could even give Mihawk a run for his money. As for whether that’s possible, later manga chapters of One Piece introduced a character who shows that a sword can have the power of a Devil Fruit.

Nami’s Fruit Would Be the Rumble-Rumble Fruit

The Rumble-Rumble Fruit is a powerful Logia-type Devil Fruit that lets the user create, control, and become lightning at will. According to Oda wants to give this Devil Fruit to Nami, which is perfect for the Straw Hat’s resident weather powerhouse. And he’s even drawn it in April 2023 for the 4th winner of the One Piece Knowledge King contest.

Oda’s correct, already Nami is proving to be an unstoppable menace with the power of Zeus and her knowledge of weather conditions, if she had Enel’s Fruit she’d be even more unstoppable being immune from Haki-less damage, and able to generate enough electricity to put down her opponenent and knowing Nami’s ingenuity she’d find a way to use this alongside Zeus for extra power to make her rival even Admiral character’s strength.

Usopp’s Devil Fruit is the Pocket-Pocket Fruit

Usopp is in desperate need of an upgrade, and the Pocket-Pocket Fruit may be one that he could achieve it. The Pocket-Pocket Fruit is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that lets the user create pockets on their body. Its current user is the former 6th Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Blamenco. This gives the user infinite pockets, which is extremely handy for a character like Usopp, who is all about his gadgets and tools.

By using the Pocket-Pocket Fruit, Usopp can have an infinite reserve of various types of ammo, specialized sniping equipment for battles against enemies, and even reuse old gadgets long since forgotten, like the large hammer or the powerful Dials from Skypeia. This Devil Fruit could be what Usopp needs to make him an actual powerhouse in the Straw Hats again, or at the very least someone who isn’t running away from every fight. It’d be a welcome change of pace, or at the very least another gag as Usopp hides in his own pocket.

The Swim-Swim Fruit Is Well-Suited for Sanji

While not the Devil Fruit Sanji wanted, Oda claims that Sanji’s actual Devil Fruit would be the Swim-Swim Fruit. This Paramecia-type Devil Fruit allows the user to swim through the ground or walls. Señor Pink and Seraph S-Shark are the only known users of this Paramecia Devi Fruit.

Sanji could utilize the Fruit in a way that enhances his combat abilities, thanks to his fast speed and reflexes. This Devil Fruit can transform him into a powerhouse in seconds, especially since he can swim through any surface with ease and attack his opponents at incredible speeds. Unfortunately, with how Oda writes Sanji, he may mean it in a completely perverted way, such as letting him secretly peek at girls. Like sliding underneath them or above their baths, either way is a disgusting thought, but when it comes to Sanji and Oda, it is a possibility.

Franky’s Devil Fruit Would Be the Arms-Arms Fruit

Franky and Thousand Sunny

Oda says that Franky’s Devil Fruit is the Arms-Arms Fruit. The Arms-Arms Fruit is a Paramecia that allows the user to transform any part of their body into a weapon, enabling them to become a Full-Body Weapon Human. Baby 5, a member of Luffy’s Straw Hat Grand Fleet, currently wields the Devil Fruit’s power.

Oda’s right. The ability of the Arms-Arms Fruit is perfect for a cyborg badass like Franky. Combined with his cyborg enhancements, he’d be an ideal combatant able to craft and enhance any weapon he creates from his Devil Fruit. Franky can significantly upgrade his Radical Beam technique with different guns and artillery to defeat his foes and really take his place in the Straw Hats.

Jinbe Wasn’t Part of the Straw Hats When Oda Answered This Question

Unfortunately, Jinbe, the Helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, wasn’t part of the crew when Oda answered the question. Because of that, Oda hasn’t revealed what his Devil Fruit would be. And he likely never will, considering the biggest weakness of the Devil Fruits is the sea. Fishmen like Jinbe have the advantage in the waters, so it’d be out of character for him to ingest one. But One Piece fans have found a collection of Devil Fruits that could fit Jinbe’s Fishman abilities and personality.

The Venom-Venom Fruit allows the user to produce and control various types of poison. The poisons can vary in strength and form, and can even create massive amounts of liquid poison or gigantic entities, such as a hydra or a demon. Combine this ability with Jinbe’s Fishman-Karate and Haki abilities, and he could take down even some of the strongest fighters just like Magellan did in Impel Down.

The Paw-Paw Fruit allows the user to repel anything by using their palms as paws. This Devil Fruit is extremely rare and is one of the World Nobles’ treasures. It went to Bartholomew Kuma after he stole and ate it during God Valley, and if he passes, his Devil Fruit would return to the world. It’d be nice for the Devil Fruit to remain in the Straw Hat’s possession, and Jinbe can really use this Devil Fruit’s ability with his Fishmen Karate to blow away opponents.

Lastly, Jinbe could also ingest Aokiji’s Devil Fruit, the Ice-Ice Fruit. The Ice-Ice Fruit is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create, control, and transform into ice at will. This is one of the few Devil Fruits that can counteract the water weakness of the Devil Fruits, as it can simply freeze it over. This Devil Fruit’s power would make Jinbe a powerhouse as he freezes and attacks his opponents with hardened ice strikes and more.
