If you are a parent of multiple children, then you know that each pregnancy journey is unique. With her fourth pregnancy, Ayesha Curry has been sharing how this time around is truly different in many aspects from the others. Most recently, in an exclusive interview with People Magazine, the multi-hyphenate personality is sharing that although she feels good, she can’t keep “a whole meal down” during her fourth pregnancy.
“I feel good. As the days go on, I feel a little better and better each day,” Ayesha told People in her interview. “I am lucky if I can get a whole meal down.”
On the cover of the first digital issue of Curry’s magazine, Sweet July, the restaurateur and chef broke the news of her expanding family. In the issue, the soon-to-be mother-of-four opened up further discussing how she felt about being labeled a “geriatric pregnancy”.
“What’s been interesting has been my doctor’s appointments,” Ayesha stated in the interview about her latest pregnancy journey. “I’m in my 30s, and so there’s all this paperwork referring to the experience as a ‘geriatric pregnancy’ and all the concerns that come along with that.”
“I think there’s something that needs to be more nuanced when it comes to women, their age and conversations around having children. Many women in their 30s and 40s are going through this for the first time, and being told you’re ‘old’ feels alarming and wild. I think the narrative needs to be shifted a little bit.”
In her Sweet July interview, Curry did acknowledge that this pregnancy will be her last.
“But one of the biggest differences [of this pregnancy] is a new understanding that this really does pass by in the blink of an eye,” she said. “And in the blink of an eye, it could also all be taken away. That’s encouraged me to slow down and take in every single little thing — especially with it being my last pregnancy.”
