Ciara says she feels “empowered” as she gets ready to welcome her fifth child.
During a Friday appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle alongside her husband, Russell Wilson, the singer opened up about celebrating her birthday and preparing to become a mother again.
“I turned 41, okay? So I feel really good,” she said. “I feel so empowered carrying our fifth baby at 41 and feeling younger than ever. I’m really excited.”
Earlier in the segment, Russell shared that he always knew “Cinco” would eventually arrive. The couple had discussed their ideal family size when they first met, and, as he explained, “She always wanted five.”
“I’m an only child. I want a big family,” Ciara said. “I love being a mom. It’s my favorite job in the world.”
Ciara also said Russell helps make childbirth feel “like a vacation.” The couple decorate the room with twinkle lights, watch Apple TV and bring their favorite pillows from home.
“He is into it with me, very calm,” she said.

Russell, a former quarterback, added a joke of his own: “I like hiking the babies out.”
Ciara said this pregnancy has been fairly similar to her previous experiences, although the nausea lasted a little longer.
“It’s kind of the same. Nausea a little longer. Overall, I’m rolling,” she said.
“Not only are you rolling, you are doing backflips,” Sheinelle Jones joked.
Jenna Bush Hager recalled seeing Ciara perform her signature backbend during “Like a Boy” at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
“That was the last time I did that on this journey,” the singer joked.
Although the backbend may be temporarily off-limits, the mom-to-be continues to dance low in videos shared on Instagram and TikTok. In an especially impressive clip posted today, Ciara walked on a treadmill in high heels while showing off her baby bump.
Ciara and Russell announced in September that they were expecting their fourth child together. They are already parents to Sienna, 9, Win, 6, and Amora, 2. Ciara also shares her oldest son, 12-year-old Future Zahir, with rapper Future.
