Colin Jost recently shared a playful insight into the pronunciation of his wife Scarlett Johansson‘s surname.
During a segment of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, the Saturday Night Live comedian, who married Johansson in 2020, tackled a quirky audience question. The inquiry centered on whether the Black Widow actress’s last name is pronounced with a “Joe” or “Yo.” Jost seized the moment with humor.
“I don’t know, I’ve never met her in person yet,” Jost quipped amidst laughter in a segment aired on July 18 on Netflix. “I’m waiting to hear her say it.”
On a more serious note, Jost did admit that he doesn’t use the Danish pronunciation of Johansson’s last name.
“I certainly say Joe-hansson,” revealed Jost, continuing to engage with the running joke by adding, “I mean, I don’t say it really ever.”
And after getting through plenty of jokes about not being familiar with Johansson—with whom he shares son Cosmo, 4, and is stepdad to her daughter Rose, 11, with ex Romain Dauriac—Jost did share a bit of knowledge about the Lost in Translation actress’ family heritage.
