When Is Abbott Elementary‘s Season 5 Finale?
The two-part finale for Season 5 of Abbott Elementary aired on ABC on April 22, with episodes available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
How Many Episodes Are In Abbott Elementary Season 5?

Will There Be An Abbott Elementary Season 6?
While Abbott Elementary Season 5 wraps this week, rest assured that school will be back in session! On March 4, ABC renewed Brunson’s Emmy-winning comedy for Season 6. HOORAY! Abbott was also the network’s first scripted renewal of this 2026 season and the five seasons in, the series still maintains solid Hulu and Disney+ viewership. So it’s no surprise ABC wants more! And so do fans!
Abbott Elementary Season 5 Ending Explained: What Will Abbott Elementary Season 6 Be About?
While prepping for another Ava Fest to remember, Janine and Gregory thankfully realized they were letting their parents’ past relationship advice and baggage cloud their judgement, so they vowed to prioritize healthy communication in the future and got back together! Thank you, Abbott! We couldn’t bear a hiatus break-up.
Before Season 5 concluded, the Abbott crew headed to Miami for PECSA and learned some terrible news: 20 schools, including Abbott, would be closing. Everyone understandably grieved and feared for their futures, but thanks to the school’s new furnace, new acting superintendent Derek Collins (Geoffrey Owens) spared Abbott. Because of other school closures, however, Abbott would have to accommodate larger class sizes in the future, which meant they needed an assistant principal. Gregory secured the job and admitted to O’Shon (Matthew Law) that he was thinking about proposing to Janine!!!
Abbott Elementary Season 6 will likely pick up post-school closures and follow Abbott’s finest as they navigate the challenges of taking on new students. We’ll see Gregory and Ava working together, Jacob may get more involved with the district, and I’m sure we’ll see lots more exciting guest stars in the future. We could even seen Gregory and Janine take the next step in their relationship! And we can’t wait!
When Does Abbott Elementary Season 6 Premiere?
Since Abbott Elementary Season 5 is just ending an official Season 6 premiere date has yet to be announced, but based on network TV schedules past we can likely expect the show to return with new episodes in fall 2026. Both Season 4 and Season 5 ran from October to April, so Season 6 will hopefully premiere in October again! Stay tuned for more updates.
