Angelina Pivarnick has bravely shared her emotional experience of a miscarriage, as disclosed in the latest episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.
In the opening episodes of the ninth and final season of the MTV series, Pivarnick took a pregnancy test during a birthday celebration for Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s son. After conducting several tests and consulting with her doctor, she confirmed the pregnancy to Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, who was expecting her own son, Vincent, at that time.
However, Pivarnick’s initial joy soon turned into anxiety in the episodes that followed. She confided in Giancola about experiencing spotting. In the most recent episode, Pivarnick revealed the sorrowful news that she had lost her baby two-and-a-half months into the pregnancy.
“It was an incredibly painful experience,” Pivarnick shared with DECIDER during her visit to our Midtown Manhattan studio in May.
She added, “The pain lingers. It doesn’t fade with time. Especially at my age. The loss is profound, regardless of age, but approaching 40 and losing a child you were so eager to welcome is especially heart-wrenching.”
While Pivarnick’s roommates/Jersey Shore Family Vacation co-stars had their suspicions, the only one who actually knew Pivarnick was pregnant was Giancola. Per Pivarnick, she wasn’t filming “too much” with her castmates, who were vacationing in Boston when her miscarriage happened, because she was “so sick in bed.” The reality star also shared that she suffered other “traumatic” complications after she lost the baby.
“I had a really bad blood clot that almost killed me after the fact of everything,” she said.
Despite what she was going through, Pivarnick said she eventually returned to filming in hopes that her story could help someone else going through something similar.
“The reason why I actually shared it — eventually I came back to filming — [was because] I was like, ‘This could help somebody else. Let me do it. Let me let me speak about it,’” she said.
