Kelly Rowland and her sons were the guests of honor at the grand reopening of Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop in San Francisco earlier this month. Rowland led the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the special occasion.
Ghirardelli’s rich history in San Francisco spans an impressive 171 years. The Original Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop, introduced in 1966, was the brand’s first location solely dedicated to crafting mouthwatering sundaes. And true to its legacy, the menu at the reopened store now offers an impressive selection of 15 different sundaes, including the world-famous Hot Fudge Sundae.
In addition to the delightful sundaes, guests can also enjoy an array of other fountain and bakery favorites, such as milkshakes, hot chocolate, brownies, cookies, and chocolate-covered strawberries.
During an exclusive interview with ABC7 Morning’s Anchor Kumasi Aaron, Rowland shared her fondness for Ghirardelli’s delectable creations.

“I think the smoothness of the chocolate, the fact that there’s all these flavors that are really vibrant. You know what I mean. You think about the raspberry, you think about the mint. My favorite is the sea salt caramel, and now my son just put me on a new crispy rice. That’s downstairs. That was delicious,” Rowland said.
The Grand Reopening of The Original Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop marked the end of six months of extensive renovations, and it was certainly worth the wait. The newly revamped store features an array of exciting additions, including an impressive 19-foot “G” from the historic marquee Ghirardelli sign, a symbol of the brand’s longstanding legacy in the city. As guests step inside, they are greeted by North America’s largest flowing chocolate wall, a mesmerizing sight that embodies the essence of Ghirardelli’s chocolate expertise.
