The producers of the hit Netflix series Love Is Blind are being sued in a case of sexual assault, false imprisonment, and negligence by a former season five contestant.

The woman, Tran Dang, has named production companies Delirium TV and Kinetic Content in her suit, and also said there might be footage proving it, People reported.

According to TMZ, Dang — who did not make it onto the show after final edits — said the incident occurred in 2022 and was at the hands of fellow contestant Thomas Smith.

Dang and Smith got engaged during their time in the pods, but their relationship took a turn as they filmed together in Mexico, per her story.

Documents obtained by TMZ state that Smith ‘incessantly groped’ her, revealed his naked body, and ‘forcibly and repeatedly made sexual contact’ with her, all without consent.

Dang is now suing the producers for dismissing her after she brought the alleged assault to their attention.

False imprisonment was introduced in the lawsuit as Dang claimed she was forced to be on-call in her hotel room.

It was also noted that she was subject to ongoing surveillance, leaving her ‘unable to exercise her will in going anywhere she was lawfully allowed to go.’

Due to the 24-hour surveillance, she believes the alleged assault was recorded.

Dang wants over $1 million in damages, and said she has experienced ‘extreme emotional distress, pain, mental anguish, and suffering’ as a direct result of the situation.

Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen spoke to People, and said he was ‘never told that [Dang] felt unsafe or experienced any of the allegations that she made.’

Delirium TV and Kinetic Content also referred to the claims as baseless.

Dang’s lawyer, Benjamin W. Allen, told the publication, ‘The producers are throwing money at the problem by spending an inordinate amount of money on losing legal positions that do nothing but delay the parties from having their day in Court.

‘They lost on three distinct legal issues before the trial court and then filed three separate appeals to multiply the proceedings we have to wade through before finally trying this case.’

Dang initially filed the suit in August 2022, and the case has been in mediation since February 2023. The statement from Allen went on to say, ‘But we are confident that Ms. Dang’s position will be vindicated once we get there and are committed to seeing it through all of the way.

‘We have to hold the show producers accountable. We have an ethical duty to our client to do so, but also feel a moral obligation to the next generation of reality show participants.’

Coelen responded to the allegations in a statement to People: ‘If anybody ever came to us and said they felt unsafe in any way, we would immediately remove them from the experiment and talk to them, and try to get to the bottom of it.’

‘Unfortunately, in this case, that kind of sentiment was never addressed to us in any way, nor was any alleged wrongdoing brought to our attention ever.’
