Political commentator Mama Pee has voiced sharp criticism against Ali Modu Sheriff, a former Borno State Governor, following his remarks concerning Peter Obi. Mama Pee questioned if someone who has faced accusations related to terrorism should be attacking the former governor of Anambra.
Sheriff recently drew attention by alleging in a television interview that Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Labour Party, “is pursuing the division of Nigeria because he believes in Biafra.”
Mama Pee challenged Sheriff’s recent criticism of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential hopeful, arguing that his own controversial history could undermine his credibility in questioning Obi’s stance on national unity.
In the television interview that sparked the controversy, Sheriff accused Peter Obi of fostering division within Nigeria by supporting Biafra. Sheriff pointed out that Obi has never publicly denounced Biafra or the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He asserted that any candidate aspiring to lead Nigeria should unequivocally support the country’s unity.
Responding to Sheriff’s assertions, Mama Pee alluded to past allegations linking the former governor to terrorism, stressing that these claims, despite being serious, have never led to a conviction in a court of law. She suggested these controversies might undermine Sheriff’s authority to criticize Obi’s alleged political agenda.
“This is former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, someone who was accused of terrørism. Even when the Chibok girls were kidn@pped, his name was mentioned and he was accused,” she said.
Her comments quickly gained traction on social media, with many Nigerians sharing differing opinions on the controversy.
