Marvel’s VisionQuest: Episode Count and Release Schedule Explained

For years, Vision has searched for answers about his identity and his place in the world. Now, Marvel’s VisionQuest brings that existential struggle to the center of the story, as he confronts a past he barely remembers and a future he cannot foresee.

Paul Bettany returns as the synthezoid Avenger for the concluding chapter of the WandaVision trilogy. This time, Vision’s greatest challenge is his own memory. After being rebooted, he must reconstruct his identity while facing an astonishing reunion with his genocidal creator, Ultron (James Spader).

The miniseries also introduces a mysterious boy whose link to Vision could redefine everything he believes about himself.

Bettany has likened Vision’s story to classic tales such as Pinocchio and Frankenstein. Like those characters, Vision is questioning who created him, where he belongs and whether his nature makes him good or evil.

As he uncovers the truth about his complicated past, Vision must determine who he really is—and whom he can trust. What lies ahead for the synthezoid Avenger? How many episodes does VisionQuest have, and when are they available to stream? Here’s everything to know.

How Many Episodes Are There in Marvel’s VisionQuest?

What Is Marvel’s VisionQuest About?

After the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along, Vision is struggling to understand a life that no longer feels fully his own. The official synopsis reveals that he has been rebooted and is hiding from people who want to weaponize him. Keeping a low profile while working at a pub in Edinburgh, he sorts through fragmented memories and searches for a stronger sense of self. He also seeks guidance from the AI personalities within his programming, including familiar MCU assistants F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady), E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire) and J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy).

Ultron, the powerful artificial intelligence who helped create Vision, may be an even greater threat. James Spader returns to the role for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), as the series examines what happens when creator and creation are forced to confront their troubled history.

Showrunner Terry Matalas said Ultron’s return grew directly out of the desire to explore Vision’s struggle with his identity.

“I wanted that last scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron between the two of them to go on for another 127 minutes. Then, it dawned on me: ‘What if all of that was the series?’” he told Disney.

Vision’s search takes another surprising turn when bounty hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) tracks him down and abducts Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious boy who may be the reincarnation of Vision’s son. While trying to escape, Vision must face the truth about his own nature, resist Ultron’s influence and uncover Thomas’s real identity.
