Prepare to be charmed by the characters of The Boroughs!
Just half a year after bidding farewell to Stranger Things, Netflix and The Duffer Brothers are teaming up once more, this time to introduce a new series set in the desert featuring a seasoned cast. This impressive ensemble includes renowned actors such as Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, and Bill Pullman, among others.
According to Netflix, the series revolves around a seemingly idyllic retirement community where a group of unlikely heroes must unite to thwart a supernatural menace threatening to rob them of their most precious asset—time.
Although the Duffer Brothers are not the creators but serve as executive producers, their signature style is evident. The show features a diverse group coming together, sci-fi elements, and a vibe that suggests it might become a sensation overnight. Sam Cooper (Alfred Molina)
Meet Sam, a recently widowed and retired engineer who finds himself reluctantly settling into The Boroughs after his wife’s passing. Bound by his contract, he cannot leave the community. Initially grumpy and hesitant to fit in, Sam becomes suspicious when he moves into the home of a mysteriously deceased former resident.
Jack (Bill Pullman)
Sam’s chatty and well-meaning neighbor who has a hard time establishing boundaries. Jack is the first person to genuinely welcome Sam to the neighborhood and try to become friends, even throwing him a welcome party to help him meet other residents.
Renee (Geena Davis)
An art teacher at The Boroughs community center and a neighbor of Sam’s. One of the more free-spirited members of the community, Renee is a retired tour manager and music professional who still has a taste for creative expression.
Wally (Denis O’Hare)
A retired doctor and scientist who is trying desperately to find a way to save himself as he is running out of time in his fight against an illness.
Judy (Alfre Woodard)
A former investigative reporter and neighbor of Sam’s who is hiding a major secret about the goings on in the cul-de-sac. Judy is married to Art (Clarke Peters).
Art (Clarke Peters)
The Wire alum plays Judy’s husband of several decades and Sam’s neighbor. Lacking a job, Art takes to blazing up every day, which makes him an unreliable source as someone who may or may not see supernatural forces running amok in the neighborhood.
Paz (Carlos Miranda)
A new security guard at The Boroughs, Paz is not hardened to the average issues that the elderly residents experience and therefore takes their concerns seriously. His genuine care catches Renee’s eye.
Blaine Shaw (Seth Numrich)
The suspicious CEO of The Boroughs who tries to convince Sam that the community is a safe, fun, and happy place to spend the rest of his days.
Anneliese Shaw (Alice Kremelberg)
Blaine’s quiet and reserved wife, who takes her role as First Woman of The Boroughs seriously.
