Drew Barrymore is back in Rosie O’Donnell‘s good graces after making the last-minute decision to “pause” the premiere date of her self-titled daytime talk show.
On Sunday (Sept. 17), the actress revealed in an Instagram post that Season 4 of The Drew Barrymore Show — which was originally slated to premiere today — will not air until the WGA strike is over.
“I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today,” she wrote. “We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”
In the comments section of the post, O’Donnell voiced her support of Barrymore by writing, “perfect ❤️ @drewbarrymore.”

Just one day earlier, O’Donnell had slammed the 50 First Dates star for doubling down on her decision to come back on television amid the strike. The comedian reposted a “brilliant” essay advising Barrymore on how she should handle the backlash she’s faced over the last couple of weeks.
“Stop taping the show. Stop asking audiences to cross the picket line. Then ask someone to help you craft three declarative sentences,” the essay read. “They should follow along these lines: I made an error, I apologize to the WGA for disrespecting the work of professional writers, I apologize to all union members who are withstanding real hardships as I live a life of luxury.”
O’Donnell was just one of many to come after Barrymore for attempting to bring back her show before the strike was resolved. After tapings for Season 4 began last week, WGA members began picketing outside of CBS studios, Barrymore’s invitation to host the National Book Awards was rescinded and her co-head writer claimed the “frustrating” decision to come back would “prolong the strike.”
While Barrymore previously promised her show would comply with the strike’s rules — and tearfully apologized for returning in a since-deleted Instagram post — the star officially hit pause following the scrutiny.
