Details about the secretive production are few and far between, but the central story is rumored to be set during the space race of the 1960s.

Apple TV+ shelled out more than $100 million earlier this year to acquire the film, which was written by Rose Gilroy, the daughter of writer-filmmaker Dan Gilroy and the actress Rene Russo.

The production has endured a wave of recastings and director changes, starting with Jason Bateman’s departure six months ago.

The Arrested Development star was originally slated to direct, but he bowed out of the endeavor due to creative differences.

Deadline reported that the decision between Bateman and the film’s production company These Pictures was reached amicably, and that the entities could join forces again if the right project were to arise.
