Simon Cowell enjoyed quality time with his son Eric on Friday as they watched Chelsea take on Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

Taking to Instagram after the match, the 63-year-old media mogul shared snaps of their time watching from inside a box before midfielder Mason Mount came to chat with Eric, eight, and sign the youngster’s football.

In one adorable snap, Simon hid his face beneath a Chelsea flag as he posed for a snap with Eric, fiancée Lauren Silverman and the club’s mascots.

Simon – who previously credited his son with saving his life by stopping him obsessing over work – looked in high spirits as he larked around alongside his family.

In other snaps, Eric looked delighted as he got to meet one of the players, with Mason taking the time to chat to the excitable youngster.

Simon captioned the images: ‘We had the best time at @chelseafc, @masonmount you are such a nice person. Thank you!’

The outing comes after Simon admitted that his headstrong son makes decision for him on his talent shows

He said his son is his ‘own man’ and does not shy away from giving him his opinions on his popular TV talent shows as he confessed that Eric is ‘always right’.

When asked if Eric ever gives Simon advice, he told the Loose Women panel in December: ‘Oh my God yes, non-stop by the way. I have a good idea what he’s going to be when older. He’s got his own opinion and he’s his own man which is really important.’

‘The great thing is when I watch the shows, when they go out I’m looking at Eric thinking does he like something? and he’s normally right,’ he added.

Simon, who previously vowed not to get married or have kids, went on to say that he was ‘late to the party’ with fatherhood but described it as the ‘best thing’ to have happened to him.

Speaking of finding balance in his life, he said: ‘I’m certainly getting there, it’s a good question actually… for sure, where I currently am in my life, my career, being a dad – I was late to the party – so it was the best thing that ever happened to me.’

Simon welcomed his son Eric in 2014 with his fiancée Lauren, 45, who he is set to marry after he left behind his bachelor lifestyle to walk down the aisle.

American socialite Lauren also has son Adam, 16, from her previous relationship with businessman Andrew Silverman.

Simon proposed to Lauren on Christmas Eve in Barbados with their son Eric, eight, present, and it was previously claimed the couple are keen to have the youngster ‘front and centre’ at the ceremony.

Simon Cowell says becoming a father changed his life and helped him overcome an all-encompassing obsession with work that left him ‘depressed, miserable’ and unable to sleep.

Cowell’s straight-talking appraisals as head judge on The X Factor helped earn him a reputation as TV’s Mr. Nasty, but behind the scenes he admits to working round the clock in a frantic bid to help the show stay one step ahead of the competition.

And the music mogul, 63, says becoming a father late in life helped steer him away from his dark, desperate and ultimately doomed attempt to salvage the former ITV flagship from a rapid decline in popularity by toying with its once successful format.
