Gymnastics icon Simone Biles was seen in Milan alongside her husband, Jonathan Owens, shortly after he experienced a distressing robbery attempt.
The couple was in the Italian city for the Winter Olympics when Owens, an NFL player, disclosed a harrowing incident via a post on X. He recounted how someone attempted to snatch his bag while he was out shopping, making for a frightening encounter.
Despite the unsettling event, Simone and Jonathan have been enjoying their time in Milan, attending both figure skating and speed skating events as part of their Olympic experience.
Following the robbery scare, the pair were spotted on Thursday, appearing unfazed and close-knit, as they strolled hand-in-hand through the streets, displaying their affection publicly.

Meanwhile Jonathan wore a brown jersey tracksuit with a patterned leather weekend bag over his shoulder.Â
Revealing the near-robbery last week, Jonathan posted: ‘Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit i had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately….but still crazy.’
Jonathan was flooded with replies from concerned fans, who questioned the thief’s logic in targeting an NFL player.
He replied:Â ‘Not fast at all bro, his arms were moving faster than his legs lol Should’ve seen his face once he realized i turned around and he couldn’t grab it.’
In another reply, Jonathan said he had planned against potential thieves thanks to watching TikTok videos.
‘Honestly i know right, but it was no way he could get it off my hand, I’ve seen too many TikToks of that happening so i was prepared,’ he added.
Simone, a seven-time Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics, swapped the summer games for winter last week.
The couple were first seen at the men’s figure skating final on Friday, where they saw American gold medal favorite Ilia Malinin suffer multiple costly falls during his free skate routine.Â

Simone is not currently practicing on the gymnastics mat, and has been non-committal about whether or not she’ll suit up in the 2028 Olympics.
But in the meantime, Simone has begun taking horseback riding lessons as she looks to mix up her workouts.
‘Other than [Pilates], I really just do my horseback riding lessons. I had one yesterday at 5:30 PM,’ Simone told PEOPLE. ‘Usually I have it early in the morning, but since I had calls, we’re like, “Let’s do it the night before”.’
Simone and husband Jonathan’s new home in Houston has placed the seven-time gold medalist in a great location to explore her new hobby.Â

Simone also revealed that she is looking to start taking ice skating lessons.
‘I haven’t started. I have to start my first lesson, so that is coming very soon,’ she added.
