Paul said members of the production team were among the only people connected to the show who reached out while she was going through a difficult period.
“I’ve always treated the production team and crew with respect, and they were the ones who checked in on me throughout this experience,” she said. Paul added that the situation had felt like bullying for months, made even more painful by what she described as the hypocrisy of parents criticizing her for mistakes they had also made.
For that reason, Paul said she felt it was best to step away and allow the others to move forward. She acknowledged that some of the backlash was connected to her own actions, but said the criticism had led her to nearly believe she deserved all the pain she was experiencing.
“I kept asking myself how much suffering and scrutiny would finally be enough,” she continued. “More than anything, I’m relieved to be out.”
