Tom Bergeron believes actions speak louder than words.

Returning to the ballroom as a guest judge for the first time since his unexpected departure in 2020, Tom joined the celebration of Dancing With the Stars‘ 20th anniversary episode on November 11. Instead of critiquing the relay dance of Alix Earle and Robert Irwin, Tom used his final moments on screen to address ABC directly.

“You all did fantastic,” he praised the celebrity dancers and their partners, Joey Graziadei and Xochitl Gomez. “But for my final words as a judge, I have a message for the network.”

With a direct look into the camera, Tom urged, “This show is breaking ratings records again, so for next season, bring back the results show. Let the whole nation vote. Allow everyone to participate.”

The request—which was greeted by cheers from the seated audience—refers to the now defunct, two-episode format of Dancing With the Stars which saw the performances on one night followed by a results episode the next night in which the couple with the lowest score and least votes was eliminated.
