The curtain is set to fall on the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
As the event wraps up on May 23 after a vibrant two-week celebration, it wasn’t just the films that stole the spotlight. Attendees were equally captivated by the fashion statements made on the red carpet, where celebrities showcased their unique flair and elegance.
Consider John Travolta, for example. The star of Grease garnered attention with his collection of berets, a nod to his first venture into directing with Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
“Having spent over five decades in the film industry, the past events blur together,” Travolta shared with CNN. “But this time, as a director, I embraced the role. I told myself, ‘You’re a director now. Step into that persona.'”
And so, he embarked on a bit of research.
“I looked up pictures—20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s—and the old school directors wore berets and the glasses,” the Saturday Night Fever star continued. “And I thought, ‘That’s what I’m doing. I’m gonna do an homage to being a director.’”
