When is ‘SNL’ Back? Upcoming Episode Details and Hosts Revealed

The newest installment of Saturday Night Live’s digital series, The Rundown, showcases Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell as they embark on the challenging mission of selecting a few top pretaped sketches to create the “ideal” SNL episode.

This task proved to be quite the challenge, given the wide range of pretapes, including commercial spoofs, fake movie trailers, the iconic Lonely Island Digital Shorts, animated segments, TV show parodies, and Jack Handey’s whimsical Deep Thoughts, among others. Ultimately, Day and Seidell chose “Dick in a Box,” “United Way” with Peyton Manning, “Christmas Time for the Jews” in the “Cut for Time” category, and a “Deep Thoughts” entry.

“Dick in a Box” stands as a classic in the SNL Hall of Fame, while “United Way” is a surprisingly fresh classic, filled with brilliant twists and genuinely laugh-inducing moments. As a devoted admirer of “Deep Thoughts,” I commend the duo for advocating Jack Handey’s quirky musings to secure the post-monologue slot, even if it didn’t technically fit the criteria.

Now, onto the pressing question: is there a new episode of SNL airing this Saturday night? Here’s what you need to know.

Is SNL New Tonight (April 25)?

Unfortunately, no new episode will air tonight. Instead, Saturday Night Live will rerun the Season 51 episode featuring Ariana Grande as the host and Cher as the musical guest.

When Does SNL Return With New Episodes?

Next week! SNL returns with the first of the final three Season 51 episodes on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

  • May 2: Olivia Rodrigo (host and musical guest)
  • May 9: Matt Damon with musical guest Noah Kahan
  • May 16: Will Ferrell with musical guest Paul McCartney
