The latest episode of IT: Welcome to Derry left viewers on the edge of their seats as the U.S. military made the disastrous choice to release Pennywise, played by Bill Skarsgård, from his eternal confinement. The first victim of this decision was Will Hanlon, portrayed by Blake Cameron James. The previous episode concluded with the unsettling revelation that Will, much like Ingrid Kersh (Madeline Stowe), had fallen under the sinister influence of the Deadlights. This raises pressing questions: Is there hope for Will’s rescue? Can Pennywise ultimately be vanquished? What twists await in the upcoming episode of IT: Welcome to Derry?
IT: Welcome to Derry serves as a prequel to Andy Muschietti’s acclaimed film adaptations of Stephen King’s It. This HBO series explores the dark history of Derry, set a generation before the Losers’ Club’s infamous encounter with Pennywise. A key figure, Admiral Francis Shaw (James Remar), experienced a childhood encounter with the entity, which led him to concoct a perilous scheme to wield this cosmic terror as a tool to instill fear in the American populace. Yet, he remains oblivious to the fact that an ancient evil like Pennywise cannot be controlled.
In the meantime, Pennywise continues to sow terror and claim the lives of Derry’s children. The town’s prejudiced residents have unjustly pinned the blame on Hank Grogan, the local theater manager played by Stephen Rider, fueling a volatile mix of hatred that erupted in last week’s episode, “The Black Spot.”

We still don’t know exactly what went down with the Bradley Gang in the 1930s and the opening credits tease the 1906 Kitchener Ironworks explosion, which killed over 102 Derry residents who were trying to enjoy an Easter egg hunt.
