When Will Other Mommy Be Available to Stream? Release Date and Viewing Details

Jessica Chastain’s quietly expanding horror reputation is getting another boost. Her latest genre film, Other Mommy, debuted at No. 1 at the North American box office, earning $27 million in its opening weekend despite receiving some unfavorable reviews.

Still, moviegoers have plenty of competition for their attention. Theaters are currently juggling releases ranging from the final stretch of Digger and The Social Reckoning to established hits such as Primetime and Heart of the Beast, while Street Fighter and Whalefall are waiting in the wings. For viewers who would rather experience the domestic horror of Other Mommy from the safety of home, waiting may be tempting.

Had Other Mommy underperformed, its home release might have arrived well ahead of Halloween. Its strong theatrical start makes the streaming timeline less predictable, however—much like Other Mommy herself. Even so, the studio’s recent release patterns offer a reasonable estimate.

When Will Other Mommy Be Available to Stream on PVOD?

Other Mommy comes from Universal Pictures, a studio with deep horror credentials thanks to the classic Universal Monsters and its more recent relationship with Blumhouse. Earlier this year, Universal extended its standard theatrical window after dramatically shortening it in the years following the pandemic. For a time, the studio guaranteed only 17 days of theatrical exclusivity, or roughly three weekends, for most releases. That minimum has now increased to five weekends, meaning Universal films generally remain in theaters for at least 31 days before arriving on premium video-on-demand platforms.

That five-week schedule is a guideline rather than an unbreakable policy. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, another Universal release, has remained exclusive to theaters for 88 days and counting. The film even returned to the box office’s top 10 this weekend after going back onto IMAX screens.

Of course, The Odyssey is an unusually successful Christopher Nolan production and one of the year’s biggest films, making it an extreme example. Universal’s other titles—including the hit Disclosure Day and the underperformer One Night Only—have generally followed the five-weekend model. Since digital rentals most often arrive on Tuesdays, Other Mommy could reach PVOD on Tuesday, November 10th. Universal has not confirmed that date, but it is a strong possibility.

When Will Other Mommy Stream for Free on Netflix, Prime Video, or Peacock?

For subscribers hoping to watch Other Mommy without an additional rental fee, Peacock will be the first destination. NBCUniversal’s streaming service receives Universal Pictures releases before they move elsewhere. After roughly four months on Peacock, those films have typically shifted to Prime Video, although Netflix is expected to take over that second window sometime in 2027.

Universal movies have generally arrived on Peacock about four months after their theatrical debuts this year, with The Odyssey again serving as the notable exception. Based on that pattern, Other Mommy could begin streaming on Peacock around February 10, 2027.

Viewers without Peacock may eventually find Other Mommy on Netflix around June 2027. That window remains an estimate, naturally—especially for a film whose titular presence has a habit of appearing when audiences least expect it.

Peacock currently has two main subscription options: Premium, which includes advertising, and ad-free Premium Plus. The monthly plans cost $12.99 and $19.99, respectively.

Annual memberships offer a discount by providing 12 months of access for the cost of 10. The ad-supported plan is priced at $129.99 per year, while the ad-free option costs $199.99 annually.

Another option is subscribing to Peacock Premium Plus through Prime Video, where the service includes a seven-day free trial that is not currently available when signing up directly through Peacock.
