During a heartfelt segment on The View, Whoopi Goldberg expressed her strong opinions on ICE and the Trump administration.
The discussion followed the tragic deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good while in ICE custody. Sunny Hostin remarked that Pretti’s untimely death might ignite change in Minnesota, prompting Goldberg to weigh in.
“I’ve been voicing my concerns for months,” Goldberg asserted. “If we don’t start paying attention, nothing will change. We’ve been asking, ‘Where is the line in the sand?’”
Goldberg highlighted Pretti and Good as individuals whom authorities attempted to malign but failed.
“People are beginning to question the narrative,” she added. “We were told this was about removing the bad elements. Instead, it seems families and children are being targeted.”
Goldberg also highlighted that attendance at immigration check-ins signifies “you’re following the rules.”
“So now you’re telling me I can’t do that, which makes me criminal suddenly. So what is it? What is it?” she added. “Y’all need to get out of Minneapolis. You gotta get out of there, because I said it the other day and I said it again, you’re not helping.”
She also urged ICE and the Trump administration to “stop not being truthful,” noting that “everyone now doesn’t trust you, and everyone’s phone is out, and we are seeing things we should not be seeing.”
“Little kids should not have to see people getting shot on the streets of this country,” she argued. “This is not some backwater. This is America. So if you keep talking about, ‘Oh, we have to take our country back.’ Yeah, the people, for midterms, are going to take their country back, because they’re tired of this.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
