Julia Stiles Describes ‘Out-of-Body’ Feeling After Her Dancing With the Stars Debut

Julia Stiles kept her pre-performance nerves at bay until after she left the ballroom floor.

After performing a quickstep to Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” during the second night of the Dancing With the Stars premiere, the Save the Last Dance star opened up about her first experience competing on the show.

“Honestly, it was a little bit of an out of body experience,” Stiles told E! News’ Will Marfuggi exclusively following the Sept. 16 episode, alongside dance partner Ezra Sosa. “So, I’m just like, ‘What happened?’ And you spend so much time trying to be present, present, present. So now I’m here. I don’t really remember what happened.”

Still, was she relieved to have her first ballroom routine behind her?

“No, because relieved means that I was anticipating something bad happening,” Stiles said. “I was trying to push those thoughts out of my head.”

The 45-year-old actress acknowledged that the routine had been on her mind well before she stepped onto the dance floor, with anxiety over the performance even costing her sleep.
