Who Is Matthew Amroliwala
British television newsreader Matthew Amroliwala (born 1962) hosts Global with Matthew Amroliwala on BBC World News every weekday at 1500 GMT. Additionally, he has served as a sporadic fill-in presenter for BBC One’s BBC News at One. From January 2008 until March 2015, he and Kirsty Young co-hosted the Crimewatch program.
He joined the BBC after working as a chartered accountant, and in 1990 he was promoted to BBC network television correspondent. He started working for the BBC News Channel in 1997 as a presenter of the evening shows. Beginning in 2001, he began hosting the late-afternoon news program, first with Maxine Mawhinney and then Jane Hill.
In April 2006, he was re-united with Hill on the 11 am–2 pm shift until March 2013 when the duo moved to the 2 pm–5 pm slot on Tuesday to Friday; Emily Maitlis co-presented on Mondays.
He has reported extensively from Northern Ireland and has covered a number of significant news stories. During the Bosnian conflict, he traveled throughout the Balkans and reported from Bosnia on the fall of Srebrenica. He has been a co-presenter of the Crimewatch program since January 2008, specializing in the solved cases with Kirsty Young, Rav Wilding, and Martin Bayfield. He was absent for the March 2015 episode, which was covered by Jason Mohammad.
He has been the host of the flagship program Global on BBC World News, the BBC’s international news channel, since September 8, 2014. On the channel and BBC Four, he debuted his first episode of World News Today on June 27, 2016.
In February 2023, it was announced Amroliwala would become a chief presenter on the BBC’s new news channel for both UK and international viewers due to launch in April.

Amroliwala attended Durham University after receiving his education at the King’s School in Ely, Cambridgeshire. He read law and politics and received his degree in 1984.

Jackie Long, a social affairs editor and Channel 4 News presenter, is married to Amroliwala. In June 1999, they got married in London.
Three daughters and two sons make up the couple’s five children, and they reside in London. Milo Amroliwala, Louis Amroliwala, Mary Amroliwala, and Mabel Amroliwala are four of their kids.
