Who Is Christian Fraser

Burnley, Lancashire, is where Christian James Fraser, who was born on November 13, 1973, was born. He is a senior news correspondent for BBC News and the chief presenter. Fraser worked for the BBC as a foreign reporter for a very long time, reporting from Nairobi, Rome, Cairo, and Paris. He currently serves as Senior News Correspondent for the BBC, reporting on significant international stories from his base in London. Since Donald Trump’s inauguration, he and Katty Kay have co-hosted the 7 p.m. BBC World News, BBC News Channel, and BBC Four programs Beyond 100 Days.

Education

He attended Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn, before graduating in Spanish and Business Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Career

As a trainee reporter for the Sunday Mirror and the Daily Mirror, Fraser joined Trinity Mirror in 1995. Before joining the BBC in 2000, he was a full-time correspondent for the Daily Mirror starting in 1996. For BBC Radio 5 Live, Fraser started his professional broadcasting career as an investigative reporter.

He was assigned to Nairobi in 2005, where he covered the wars in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He relocated to Rome in the summer of 2006, serving as the BBC’s correspondent there for nearly two years.

He covered the conflict in Lebanon at the time, as well as Meredith Kercher’s murder and Amanda Knox’s trial in 2007. He relocated to Cairo a year later. When Israel invaded Gaza in 2007, during Operation Cast Lead, Fraser was the only British reporter there. He stayed in Rafah, a Palestinian city, for a week while the Israelis destroyed the tunnels.

Fraser joined the BBC as a correspondent in Paris in 2010 and covered the Egyptian revolution for BBC TV. He covered the Libyan conflict in 2011 from both Tripoli and, as the conflict dragged on, rebel-held Benghazi. As the Senior News Correspondent for the BBC News Channel in 2014, he made his way back to London while covering the Russian seizure of Crimea. He provided live coverage of the terrorist incidents in France and Belgium in 2015–16. He currently serves as a presenter for the BBC News Channel, BBC World News, BBC Breakfast, and the PM show on Radio 4.

He took over as the primary host of the BBC News show The Context with Christian Fraser in 2022.

Additionally, he broadcast the overnight coverage of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing as well as some of the days preceding the funeral. In February 2023, it was revealed that Fraser would serve as the channel’s chief presenter for both UK and international viewers when it launches in April.

Fraser is wed to journalist Topaz Amoore, a former foreign editor at The Daily Telegraph. They both reside in London and have two kids. The names of his children are not yet revealed.
