There’s no better time than the morning to lay the foundation for a stronger, more defined core.

Growing older can seem daunting, yet it doesn’t have to be. With age, our metabolism decelerates, lean muscle naturally diminishes, and hormonal changes occur. In women, declining estrogen levels might lead to increased belly fat, while men often experience a drop in testosterone, a change associated with the accumulation of visceral fat around the abdomen. As you reach your 50s, you might wonder, “What can I do?” Rest assured, practical solutions are within reach.
Dr. Mariam Zakhary, DO, serves as a Clinical Advisor at New Jersey’s Ikon Recovery Center and holds double board certifications in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine. She recommends six highly effective morning exercises designed to enhance and tone your core more efficiently than conventional gym machines.
Dr. Zakhary emphasizes, “Though these exercises contribute to a firmer, more toned midsection, no single exercise exclusively reduces belly fat. Achieving a flatter abdomen involves maintaining better posture, boosting muscle tone and strength, leading an active life, eating a nutritious diet, and reducing overall body fat.”
