Semi-trailer crashes into a van on Georgia highway, killing 7

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. – Tragedy struck in Saluda County as a woman lost her life following a two-vehicle crash on Monday, as confirmed by the Saluda County Coroner’s Office.

The unfortunate incident happened on October 27 along U.S. Highway 178 near Prater Road. A 2005 Honda Accord, heading west, collided with an eastbound 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. Each vehicle was carrying a driver and a passenger.

Among those involved, 76-year-old Shirley Fincher, a passenger in the Chevrolet Traverse, succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The drivers and the other passenger involved in the collision were rushed to nearby hospitals where they received medical attention for their injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Saluda County Coroner’s Office, is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.

The coroner’s office thanked Saluda County Dispatchers, EMS, Fire Service, Sheriff’s Office, Batesburg Fire Department and SCHP for their assistance at the scene.
