Cissna Park, Ill. (WCIA) — Overcoming obstacles is nothing new to Addison Lucht.

Cissna Park didn’t have little league softball when she was growing up, leading her to play baseball until she could join a travel softball team.

“I played baseball until I was like 10 or 11 years old, I think I built a lot of athleticism and just overall, just competitiveness from playing baseball with all the boys and stuff,” Addison said. “It definitely was a transition, some stuff different, like the bases being short and everything, but playing baseball first really helped me.”

“She’s got a lot of drive,” Addison’s dad, Scott, said. “Becoming the athlete that she’s become is not is not easy, it’s not for the faint of heart.” “You have to put a lot of work in, and she’s done a really good job of putting that work in.”

Whether on the court or the diamond, her passion for success continued to grow.

“That’s why I am like where I am today, just playing multiple sports and not just focusing on one, use it a bunch of different muscle groups, every sport you’re in, and I think that just the different chemistry you build on different teams and just the competitiveness,” Addison said. If I were to do all over again, I would play all the sports. “

Lucht took visits all across the country, but the opportunity to play high-major college softball close to home was a big selling point.

“It’s always been a dream of mine ever since I was younger to play in that conference,” Addison said. “Growing up here, I think I’m just really excited for it.” “Going on my visit, I just loved everything about it, the coaching staff was amazing and obviously the great academics that they have, and I’m just really excited to be able to play closer to home, so a lot of family friends can come watch me.”

Before putting on the purple and white for the ‘Cats, a big senior season awaits Lucht and the T-Wolves with a chance to shine again on the state stage.
