SAINT JOSEPH, Ill. (WCIA) — A St. Joseph family is impacted as Saturday marked the last day The News Gazette delivered through private couriers.
Couriers got a letter about a mandatory meeting explaining the new changes, that The News Gazette will be using the post office to deliver papers moving forward.
Susan Fiscus and her family have been delivering papers to the St. Joseph community for 30 years.
“Well, we got the notice on our bundle top stating that we had a mandatory meeting for yesterday. So my son and I went in and went to the meeting and found out that we no longer had a job,” Fiscus said.
“The post office is going to probably deliver the papers, but if by chance it’s too much for them, they may get a hold of us,” she continued. “We did sign up yesterday for that. We’re just going to see what’s out there and kind of weigh it out and see what we can find.”
Fiscus said she and her family will be on stand-by if their services are needed, and will look for new opportunities elsewhere.
