DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Just a few weeks after putting out a blaze at a house on Johns Avenue in Decatur, the fire department found themselves back at the same location early Sunday morning. On arrival, the home was fully ablaze.
Fire crews were alerted to the fire in the 800 block of Johns Avenue shortly after 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters swiftly began battling the flames, deploying multiple hoses in an effort to protect nearby homes from the spreading fire.
“Given the fire’s magnitude and the building’s compromised structure from previous damage, a defensive approach was employed throughout the operation,” the fire department detailed in a released statement.
That same house had caught on fire early in the morning on June 19. Following the vacant house fire in June, officials said no injuries were reported. Luckily, no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters from Sunday’s fire either.
Now, the Decatur Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Bureau is working to learn how the fire started.
