SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Congressman Mike Bost and his opponent Darren Bailey both view themselves as two of the most conservative politicians in the state. On Tuesday, Republican voters will decide who they are sending to the November General Election.
Bost and Bailey share a lot of conservative beliefs.
In the race for Illinois’ 12th congressional district, both candidates agree that immigration is the most important issue.
Incumbent Mike Bost was part of the House Republican delegation that shut down the bipartisan immigration deal in the senate.
“I can tell you that I’m voting my district,” Bost said. “This is an issue that I’ve talked to my district a lot on, and I know where they’re at. And I know what they want.”
Bailey said Bost is a part of the problem.
“That’s the only reason he’s talking about this,” Bailey said. “He’s got a primary and now upset and this is this is this is an issue.”
This is a developing story that will be updated.
