In Carter County, Tennessee, Carter County Bank revealed on Friday that due to factors outside its control, it will not be able to host the William B. Greene Jr. East Tennessee Amateur golf tournament.

Recognized as a popular event for qualifying golfers, this marks the second instance in recent years where unforeseen challenges have led the bank to cancel the tournament.

Andrew McKeehan, the bank’s president, emphasized their commitment to providing nothing less than “a first-class experience.”

William B. Greene Jr. expressed that although the golf course is in excellent condition, the decision to cancel was both “complicated and necessary.”

“This wasn’t a choice we wanted,” Greene Jr. remarked. “I am deeply honored to have this tournament bear my name, and it’s disappointing that we lack the support and infrastructure to meet our standards this year.”

Despite the setback, Carter County Bank will begin immediately pursuing options for the 2027 tournament and plans to release more details regarding the event’s future once they are finalized.
