A tragic incident in Keysville, Florida, has led to serious charges for a man involved in a fatal crash. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has reported that additional charges have been filed against the suspect following the accident on Saturday, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
Authorities responded to the scene on Old Hopewell Road around 7:45 p.m., where they found two individuals ejected from a motorcycle. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford Explorer, identified as 27-year-old Edwin Rapalo-Lorenzo, fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived.
In the wake of their investigation, the Sheriff’s Office apprehended Rapalo-Lorenzo. He now faces charges for leaving the scene of a crash involving a fatality, leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Following an investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rapalo-Lorenzo and charged him with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, and driving with no valid driver’s licence.
The sheriff’s office said that an immigration detainer will be palced on Rapalo-Lorenzo.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office announced that Rapalo-Lorenzo is now facing additional charges.
According to HCSO, through additional evidence, detectives determined probable cause to charge Rapalo-Lorenzo with vehicular homicide and reckless driving.
