ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida woke up to storms rolling through ahead of a cold front that will proceed into southern Florida, stalling on Sunday and then lifting northward as a warm front on Monday.

Most areas saw rainfall totals under half an inch, but Orlando and Melbourne managed to get a little more than that.

Once the rain cleared and the sun came out, high temperatures were above average for this time of year. Typically, high temperatures stay around 72 degrees.

Tonight and Sunday remain mainly dry. Models hint at a few stray sprinkles of rain around 7-8 a.m., mainly south of Orlando in Osceola and Brevard counties.

Highs stay in the mid-to-upper 60s with a breezy northwest wind around 10-15 mph under partly sunny skies.

Monday there’s a small chance for a few showers, mainly light rain.

Our next threat of widespread storms and showers comes in on Tuesday ahead of a stronger cold front headed our way.

Ahead of that cold front there could be a few storms that turn severe. It’s still a little early to zero in on the hazards, but there could be a few storms capable of producing strong damaging winds up to 50-60 mph in addition to heavy rain and possibly small hail.

A few tornadoes can’t be ruled out, but of course as the front inches closer the hazards will be fine-tuned along with the timing of the stormy weather.
