Central Illinois Surgeon Introduces Innovative Screening Method for Most Common Cancer Diagnosis

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The American Cancer Society has recently revised its recommendations to include a novel screening method for colorectal cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer. A blood test is now available as part of the screening process.

Colorectal cancer ranks as the second leading cause of cancer-related fatalities.

Dr. Claudius Conrad, who serves as the Associate Dean for Research at Carle Illinois College of Medicine and is an active cancer surgeon, emphasizes that prevention remains the cornerstone of cancer management. Detecting the disease at an early stage significantly enhances the chances of successful treatment.
