SAVANNAH, Ga ()- With April 15 a little more than two weeks away, it is crunch time. All day long, is on your side with valuable information you need to prepare your taxes.

Whether you are searching for free tax help you can trust, trying to squeeze out more valuable deductions, anxiously awaiting your refunds, or wanting to make sure you are not a victim of scams, we have you covered.

Debra Simmons, the Director of Savannah’s Neighborhood Improvement Association, a nonprofit and the main site for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), joined News 3 Kim Gusby on today’s Community Corner to discuss more.

VITA is a free program that covers four counties, including Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty, that can save taxpayers money in fees and help you receive credits that boost your refunds.

Simmons offered some advice on how to prepare to file, what you should bring to your tax preparer, and whether it is better to utilize a tax service or professional.

She also shined a light on new tax credits this year.
