Darius Rucker arrested on drug charges in Tennessee

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Country music star Darius Rucker was arrested in Williamson County, Tennessee, on drug-related charges on Thursday, Feb. 1.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said Rucker, 57, was charged with two counts simple possession/casual exchange and violation of registration.

He posted a $10,500 bond and was released Thursday.

Rucker’s attorney Mark Puryear said in a statement to Nexstar’s WKRN in Nashville: “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.”

Rucker, a South Carolina native, is also the lead vocalist of rock band Hootie and the Blowfish. The band will play at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Saturday, Jul. 27. Rucker, who has won three Grammy Awards, released his first solo country album, “Learn to Live” in 2008. He has since released four no. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart.

In October, Rucker received the Country Music Association Foundation’s 2023 Humanitarian Award for his various work raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
