DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur City Council is expected to pick between two proposals for yard waste hauling for its residents at its meeting Monday night.
The city council previously asked the two hauler companies to lower prices, after the companies started charging $12 a month for premium yard waste service. This premium service would collect waste outside of the 12 weeks included during the spring and fall.
One proposal will allow for universal yard waste collection in the set window through upping the cost for residential garbage services to all residents. The cost would increase by $3.25 per month, for a total fee of $26.75 per month.
The other proposal would allow for customers to opt into premium service for $100 per year. Customers can choose to pay the fee once or add it to their bimonthly garbage bill.
For both proposals, customers would be allowed unlimited weekly yard waste collection from March 1 through December 15 every year, as well as one pickup date in January and one in February.
