Decatur Resident Faces 12-Year Prison Term for Drug-related Offenses

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Decatur has been sentenced to over ten years in prison after admitting guilt to charges of cocaine manufacturing and distribution.

Erek McGee, aged 34, faced two Class X felony charges after his apprehension in November. According to a statement from Decatur Police, their investigation led to obtaining a search warrant for McGee’s residence. During his arrest during a traffic stop, authorities searched his house, uncovering more than nine pounds of methamphetamine and five ounces of cocaine.

Police revealed that McGee confessed to meth sales during questioning. However, as part of a plea agreement, prosecutors chose to drop those related charges. McGee pleaded guilty to the count of cocaine manufacturing and delivery.

According to court documents, McGee was sentenced to 12 years for the charge he admitted to. He was credited with seven months for time served in the Macon County Jail and an additional 62 days for his work as a trustee while incarcerated.
