In Mount Dora, Florida, law enforcement, including Lake County deputies and Mount Dora police, swiftly responded to a report of a verbal altercation at a residence on Cheval Street around 8:48 a.m. this past Saturday, according to official reports.
Authorities revealed that a male resident of the home discharged a firearm at another man who had entered the premises through an unlocked sliding glass door.
The investigation uncovered that the intruder had initially knocked and pounded on the doors and windows of the house before gaining entry via the unlocked sliding door. He then proceeded to forcefully enter the resident’s bedroom, prompting the homeowner to shoot him twice in response.
Further details from deputies identified the shooter as the homeowner. Meanwhile, the individual who was shot was discovered to be the estranged husband of the homeowner’s girlfriend. The woman involved disclosed that she and the injured man are currently undergoing divorce proceedings.
The injured man was reported to be conscious and breathing, and he was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
No arrests have been made, and names will not be released because the investigation is active, deputies said. The investigation remains ongoing.
