WASHINGTON (WCBD/NEWSNATION) – The National Mall is currently hosting the vibrant Great American State Fair, a festival that gathers an eclectic mix of exhibits, entertainment, and attractions from every corner of the United States.

According to event organizers, the fair boasts approximately 150 exhibits, representing each state and U.S. territory. The event is brimming with musical performances, captivating military demonstrations, industry displays, and a variety of family-friendly activities.

Among the participating states, South Carolina stands out with a pavilion that proudly displays the state’s charm and easygoing lifestyle, enticing visitors to explore more.

Visitors can unwind in the pavilion, which features numerous rocking chairs, and enjoy a round of miniature golf, a nod to South Carolina’s esteemed reputation as a top golfing destination.

Throughout the South Carolina pavilion, decorative elements pay homage to the state’s diverse landscape and rich culture, showcasing iconic sweetgrass baskets from the Lowcountry and coastal-inspired designs.

“We wanted to highlight the golf. We have world-renowned golf courses. We are known for being a little bit slower-paced relaxation. We want to be seen as the vacation destination that we are. So come in, sit down, have a rock. Everything we’ve done in here is very purposeful, from the greenery to represent the gardens of South Carolina, to the bicycle we have in the corner with the photo opportunity; it’s very coastal, very beach-like, and we’ve got everything in South Carolina,” said Devon Harris, program manager with the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.

Visitors can also pick up a “Greetings from South Carolina” postcard at the pavilion. Organizers will mail the card on behalf of guests, making it appear as though it was sent directly from the state.

The Great American State Fair aims to showcase the country’s culture, innovation and traditions through state pavilions, daily programming and attractions, including a large Ferris wheel set up on the National Mall.

The event opened June 25 and runs through July 10.
