WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A fire Friday night at a building under construction in Winter Haven prompted the evacuation of a nearby apartment complex, according to police.

Winter Haven and Polk County fire crews responded around 9:30 p.m. to 1599 6th Street SE, arriving to flames shooting through the building’s roof, according to a statement from the Winter Haven Police Department.
