COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. – In an earnest effort to address pressing public safety concerns, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr convened a roundtable discussion with local law enforcement officials in Columbia County on Wednesday.
During this strategic meeting, Carr engaged in conversations about various critical issues such as the trafficking of contraband cell phones, the implications of unauthorized drones, the persistent threat of human trafficking, and the rise in violent crimes.
“When we examine problems like domestic terrorism, human trafficking, gang activities, and organized theft, these are crimes that often transcend city or county lines,” Carr observed. “They frequently manifest as regional or statewide challenges. Take human trafficking, for instance; it’s highly transient. Individuals might find themselves in Augusta one day, Macon the next, and Atlanta shortly after. Thus, having a state unit dedicated to tackling these issues is crucial. However, since these crimes occur at the local level, it’s equally important to ensure local participation.”
In addition to his role in addressing these significant issues, Chris Carr is also a candidate in the race for governor of Georgia.
